We would like to say a big thank you to all who attended our inaugural meeting on Saturday. We were delighted with the turn out – particularly given the heavy rain! – and the day went even better than we could have predicted!
Our gratitude is, of course, due to Cllr Chris McEleny and Tommy Sheppard MP for attending our hustings, and Angus Robertson MP and Alyn Smith MEP who, despite unable to make it, were keen to provide video messages so that all four Depute Leader candidates were represented on the day. Thanks are also due to Clare Haughey MSP and Chris Stephens MP who were able to join us for our meeting.
As a result of Saturday, SNP Socialists as a group now has a far clearer picture of our aims and objectives, the knowledge that there is an appetite for our group and that we can grow and develop going forward, and an NEC which, with the majority of roles elected at the meeting, now boasts male and female representatives from a variety of age groups and different ethnic groups.
We will, of course, be updating social media, the website, the mailing list, and other outlets with far more details about future events and information on the NEC and group as a whole in the coming days and weeks, but we just wanted to get online in the aftermath of Saturday to say thanks to those who made the journey to the STUC and we hope to see you again at our next meeting – details of which we will confirm ASAP.
