What is Red Thistle?

Red Thistle is an online space designed to encourage progressive and open debate about socialism, left-wing politics, the Scottish National Party, and any other relevant topics. Despite the name of the group itself, Red Thistle is not just a place for members of SNP Socialists. We warmly welcome contributions from those within and outwith not just SNP Socialists, but the SNP as a whole.

The format is simple. If you have an idea for an article or opinion piece that you think is relevant to SNP Socialists and Red Thistle, or have previously written something you think is relevant to the discussion, just send it our way to snpsocialists@gmail.com and we will look to host it online. You can find out more about contributing here.

It goes without saying that the majority of content will be written from a left-wing and socialist SNP stance, but please do not be put off submitting your own views if you do not come under that bracket. If you have something relevant to say then fire it our way. We will consider all submissions fairly and, outwith the correcting of typos, will never edit anything without discussing it with you first.

All posts on the website also allow readers to comment with their own thoughts on each piece. Like any other website of this kind, we will of course monitor these in order to remove anything we think oversteps the mark from heated debate into personal abuse. Again, non-SNP and non-socialist voices are welcome here, as long as the views expressed are relevant and participating in the debate. Responding to the articles on Red Thistle with your own viewpoints or perspectives is not just welcomed, it is encouraged!

So get involved in the discussion – read, write, comment, and participate!

Disclaimer: Red Thistle is designed to stimulate debate and provide a forum for discussion. The views expressed – both in articles and in comments – are those of the individual responsible and not necessarily those of SNP Socialists, unless otherwise stated.
